Calcio! AS Roma Futbol match

Tonight we all got tickets to go an A.S. Roma game! So much
funnnnnnnn!! European soccer games are so fun and INSANE! We all bought Totti jerseys and wore them to the stadium. Tickets were only 5 euro! (1/2 off for girls, haha). Everyone in the stands was cheering and singing Roma chants the entire game, ive never seen a a crowd so intense.
Roma ended up winnning 6 to 1, it was so amazing! I cant wait to go again!

COLOSSEO

When we got back from Capri, our study abroad program had hooked us up with free entrance and tours of the Forum and Colesseum. It was really cool to go through the ancient ruins with a history expert by your side. Here some pictures for you to check out:

Inside the Colloseum, its MASSIVE!

Can you believe Im really here?!!

Capri <3

What a great weekend!
The most beautiful place I have ever been.

Getting there was crazy, we had to take:
-a metro (subway) to the train station
-then a train to naples (which broke down and we had to wait an hour in the heat for another, and we no idea what was going on cause we dont speak italian that well yet)
-then a taxi to the port
-a ferry to Capri (1 hr)
-then a shuttle to Anacapri (where our hotel was).

Overall it took us 6 hours on 5 modes of transportation, but it was so worth it.
some pics from our journey

Our Ferry to Capri

First night in Capri

Capri turned out to be the hamptons of Italy and was full of ritzy Italians in the main city. But we stayed on the top of the island in a little town called Anacapri. It was great cause there were basically no American tourists, only italians. This made communication hard on this island and we really had to piece together our Italian to get by, good practice!
We took 1.40 euro buses all over the island, on super windy narrow roads.
The clubs were super pricey, about a 40 euro cover charge! We said no way and walked around (since we were underdressed compared to all the blinged out Italian women in stilettos) and found a little dive bar where we could hang out.

The next day we went to “Faro” one of the best beaches in Itlay. It had all these rocks that you can jump off of into the ocean, so much fun!!

Then we went to see "The Blue Grotto".

You have to take a gondola to get inside!

The opening to the Grotto, you have to lay down in the boat to get through!!

Inside the "Blue Grotto". Romans used to use the grotto as a swimming pool.

After that we got a boat to take around the entire island and he stopped and let us swim in a couple of spots, the best part of the trip by far!

The Green Grotto. We got to swim through this cave and he picked us up on the other side!

The White Grotto, this crazy cave where you could climb to the top.

Our boat went through this!

That night we went out and had a great dinner at a cute little ristorante
in Anacapri.

i had their famous Ravioli, so good.

And went to a club near
our hotel called “RED” pretty fun.

The next day we woke up bright and early, and made the trek all the way back home to Roma, in time for more great adventures!

More to come.
XOXO,
Taylor

First day of exploring Roma!

After our orientation on thurs i spent the day exploring in Rome with a big group of kids. We went to the Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain, Venice Plaza, and just walked around it was really fun.

Later that night, we made a big dinner at one of the apartments in the American Dorm place (called Residence Candia). Then ended up trying to go to a bar, but we really dont know where any are so we walked for a bit then found this little place that was a Beatles themed bar, wtf? It was called Sgt. Pepper's.
The next day I had another orientation, then off to Capri!!

Ciao!

I Made It!!

My first night here was amazing!! I got to the hostel at like 830am and
couldnt check in until 12 so i just goofed around and ate lunch at the
restaurant. Also my friends Lorraine and Geleen from UCSD were coming in at around
5pm.

Finally i got to my room and decided to take a little nap which turned
into 4hr nap, i guess i was jetlagged, lol. But when i woke up i went
looking for the girls since we basically have no means of communication
here. Luckily, i walked out my door and they were right there, and their
room was right across the walkway :)

So the hostel was like a little village that had a pool, restaurant,
pub-disco, supermarket, etc. we went swimming at the pool and then decided
to hit the pool bar (Isla Bonita) and then when that closed we went to the
pub-disco. It was really fun, my friend is a flirt and she got us free drinks from the bartenders :) We ended meeting some Aussies one
of whom was chef there and we all went back to the kitchen and ate really good
leftovers!!

overall the first night was sooooooooooo fun!!

We finally made it to actual Rome, and it just amazing! the architecture and
culture are indescribable. I got the keys to my apartment at the study
center. Here is where i left Lorraine and Geleen because they are staying
in Residence Candia which sort the all American dorm building. So i went to my
private apartment which is one of the oldest neighborhoods in Rome, called Trastevere, literally "The other side of the river" (because its across the Tiber River). It is
so freakin cute. there is a little courtyard and the apartment is actually
pretty big not like a shoe box like i had expected. But i am staying a
triple room with two girls. then there is a double room and single
room. so 6 total. I will post pictures soon :)

Anyway, i just got back from the little farmers market right by our
apartment and we have to venture all the way back to our school and are
undoubtedly going to get lost as all hell in these crazy streets, so i
have to get going.

Ciao!!
